Mabogoshi Matlala

Mabogoshi Matlala is a MA student in Media Studies. She holds a BA degree in Media Studies and International Relations and a BA Hons degree in Media Studies from the University of the Witwatersrand. She is currently part of the African Gender Institute research programme on young women and institutional cultures at universities and a member of the Wits Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Media and Publicity Committee. Mabogoshi‘s research interests in Media Studies include news production, media policy, alternative media, representations of Africa and foreign policy. She loves interacting with people from various backgrounds and learning about their life experiences as they inspire and motivate her to appreciate life and become an advocate for change. She loves the African continent and wishes one day to own a media company that will challenge Western media‘s negative representations of Africa, tell African stories in an African manner but most importantly contribute to development and democracy in Africa. Her other interests are reading, photography, radio, cricket and soccer. Mabogoshi draws strength from her mother whose value of education has propelled her and inspired her to work hard to reach her goals.

    It is indeed a great piece of work and can definately say I see you go higher and higher because you know what you are striving for.

    The best I can say is ” The sky is the limit and most importantly May God bless your goals to be true and keep you on ground for the Africans to see and have a change you think they never got/experienced from the western media’s negativity towards the continent.
